A Journey Through Fair Housing History

AdminAll news, Fair Housing

April 11th will mark the 56th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Fair Housing Act, which prohibited discrimination concerning the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, religion, national origin, and, as amended, sex, handicap, and family status. The legislation was a significant step forward in the ongoing struggle for civil rights and equality, forming a foundation that continues to be built upon to this day.

Reflect. Repair. Renew. Because That’s Who We R®

As REALTORS®, NOMAR members choose to adhere to the strict code of ethics that sets a higher standard for fairness in housing than any federal law. Fair Housing Month presents the opportunity to reflect on housing discrimination and segregation, past and present, and recommit to advancing equitable opportunities and expanding homeownership.
